Beirut Contemporary Ballet BCB is a contemporary dance company and artistic platform based in Beirut. Working across stage, screen, training, and artistic collaboration, BCB brings classical foundations into conversation with contemporary practices.

We believe dance has a role to play in keeping a society open, expressive, and connected.

Our Story

BCB emerged from a need for sustained contemporary dance practice in Beirut. What began with small-scale creations and screen-based work has grown into a wider practice: bringing together dancers, choreographers, filmmakers, musicians, designers, and institutions through creation, training, and exchange.

What We Do

Rooted in Beirut and engaged internationally, BCB works across four interconnected areas:

  • Stage: Original creations, performances, and repertoire.

  • Screen: Dance films and interdisciplinary collaborations.

  • Training: Workshops, professional development, and long-term training structures.

  • Consultancy: Choreography, movement direction, artistic direction, and institutional collaboration.

Mission

We create contemporary dance that is technically rigorous, emotionally direct, and rooted in human experience.

Through performance, screen work, training, and collaboration, BCB develops artists as much as it develops work. We invest in dancers through sustained training and professional opportunities, while creating connections between local practice and the international dance field.

We believe strong artistic work does not happen in isolation. It requires time, discipline, exchange, infrastructure, and opportunity; and we work to create those conditions in Beirut.

We envision Beirut as a place where contemporary dance can be learned, practiced, created, performed, and sustained professionally.

BCB is working toward an ecosystem that connects training to professional practice, artists to opportunities, local creation to international exchange, and dance to wider audiences.

At the center of this ecosystem is a professional contemporary dance company based in Beirut, with the capacity to create and tour internationally. Around it, we are building the structures that allow dancers and dance to develop over time: education, artistic exchange, commissions, partnerships, and access to professional work.

The aim is not simply to produce performances, but to help build the conditions for a contemporary dance culture to exist and grow from Beirut.
